bebunch unveils bel-val exhibition pavilion

Luxembourg-based collective BeBunch’s Bel-Val Exhibition Pavilion has transformed a public park with a cluster of wooden pavilions, ponds, and canopy umbrellas that integrate into their context without distorting its natural beauty. Water, a symbol of rejuvenation, plays an essential role in the design, as several ponds are being built to create a harmonious relationship between land and water. These bodies of water will become ‘omnipresent’, allowing BeBunch to revive the history of the spring that once existed in this park. Moving through the space, visitors can explore the pavilion’s terraces that invite them to pause, rest, and contemplate.

the terraces immerse visitors in the natural environment

Bel-Val Exhibition Pavilion’s design features a series of terraces that extend over the water and vegetation, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the natural environment. Whether sitting by the water’s edge or strolling along the wooden pathways, visitors can experience Laura Mannelli’s narration that tells the story of the Bel-Val spring. Inspired by the shelter of clouds on a hot day, the team at BeBunch incorporates rounded umbrellas that provide cool shade and protection. Beyond this, they also collect water and channel it back into the ponds, keeping the ecosystem balanced in a circular process.

Further, the circular design philosophy is embodied by the pavilions themselves. The first pavilion offers a refuge from the outside world, inviting visitors to take a momentary retreat or quench their thirst. The second pavilion is a showpiece that allows visitors to interact poetically with the spring, bathing in its luminous glory. Lastly the third pavilion caters to practical needs, offering facilities for visitors’ convenience.
