infinity design revitalizes ‘NATURAL LIGHT RESIDENCE’

Nestled in the heart of the city in Ersha Island, Guangzhou, Natural Light Residence is a four-story dwelling that integrates modern urban living with the serenity of the natural environment. A space where art, nature, and the human spirit coexist in harmony, the renovation by Infinity Design infuses the family home with a dynamic interplay of light and a playful yet tranquil ambiance. Further, the minimalist interior design and the revitalized configuration of spatial volumes marked by soothing colors and natural light enhances the inherent sophistication within.

Fostering a relationship with nature in the urban context, the residence artfully blurs boundaries between indoors and outdoors across its three levels, creating a fluid movement that guides residents through the space. By removing obstacles and ornamentation and incorporating natural scenery with plants, gardens, and terraces, the design maximizes visual space and offers a sensorial experience upon entering the house.

fusing natural light and GREENERY INto AN URBAN CONTEXT

Stepping inside the Natural Light Residence, the boundaries between the indoors and outdoors are artfully blurred, and an interplay of daylight guides fluid movement. By removing obstacles and creating a void, Infinity Design has maximized visual space and the incorporation of natural scenery and daylight, offering a sensorial experience upon entering the house. The ground floor adopts a multi-column structure, where functional elements such as the living room backdrop wall and built-in furniture converge in a harmonious box-shaped arrangement. The owner has infused his home with and understated, refined quality, which with the presence of the element of nature, eliminates the need for excessive embellishment. Instead, art and nature coexist and complement each other.

A secluded haven for the family, the home features a serene tea corner which sits in the living room with its own distinct identity. With an emphasis on creating diverse experiences, this composite space offers an ideal setting for contemplation, shared moments with loved ones, or simply enjoying a cup of tea. The use of wood as the core element infuses the room with a simple yet elegant atmosphere, while a custom stainless steel storage cabinet complements the natural elements.

On the first floor, Infinity Design replaced the original concrete staircase with sculptural stainless steel hollow ladder. In its staggered arrangement, vertical illumination converges with horizontal transparency to create two streams of flowing light and shadow, with the intention to evoke the intimate connection between humans and nature. Further, light streams in through the strategically placed skylight, creating an ever-changing, poetic interplay of light and dark. The staircase corner, with its sunroof and sidelight, serves as a bridge between the indoor and outdoor worlds, capturing framed views of the natural landscape.

Extending beyond mere dwelling, the second floor is dedicated to nurturing the growth and imagination of the family’s three young boys and fostering bonds. Each individual space reflects their unique personalities, while facilitating interactions among family members. The living room here features a blue spaceship concept, including a mural and small round window emulating a spaceship cabin, creating a vibrant space for the children to play and learn. Meanwhile a treehouse with a panoramic view, a tatami area by the window, a cloud ladder, and a handmade workbench create diverse playgrounds for the children to unleash their energy. The space is also punctuated with art pieces carefully selected to reflect the family’s shared life. infinity design infuses nature, light, and space into family home in china

Further, bringing nature into the home, the third floor is engulfed in plants from Ersha Island and becomes a gathering space for rest and play. Immersed in the ambiance of a botanical garden, there is a sunroom that fosters growth and relaxation. Staggered high and low, centipede tongavines and ferns dangle from the ceiling, harmonizing with the simplicity of wicker chairs and offering a comfortable environment.

This space transitions into a multifunctional terrace for hosting impromptu gatherings, complete with a bar and sunbeds. The rooftop includes a terrace, with an open air forest-inspired experience created for the family’s affinity for camping. Here, they can enjoy panoramic views of the city, the lakes and the mountains, while swinging the gold clubs.
